Naval Science 1

Grade Level: 9-12

Credit: 1 unit

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the precepts of citizenship, the elements of leadership, and the value of scholarship in attaining life goals. It is also designed to engender an appreciation for the heritage and tradition of America and to develop in each cadet a growing sense of pride in his/her organization, associates, and self. May be substituted for PE1.

Naval Science 2

Grade Level: 10-12

Credit: 1 unit

Prerequisite: Naval Science 1

The purpose of this course is to further develop the traits of citizenship and leadership in students, to introduce cadets to the technical area of naval science study, and to endeavor a deeper awareness of the vital importance of the world oceans to the continued well being of the United States.

Naval Science 3

Grade Level: 11-12

Credit: 1 unit

Prerequisite: Naval Science 1 and 2

The purpose of this course is to further develop the traits of leadership, to introduce the cadets to the importance of international law, to continue with the instruction of naval science, including astronomy, meteorology, weather, and to provide an understanding of the facets of sea power, national security, and naval history.

Naval Science 4

Grade Level: 12

Credit: 1 unit

Prerequisite: Naval Science 1, 2, and 3

The purpose of this course is to build on the basic qualities of a good follower and an effective leader which were provided in Naval Science 1, 2, and 3 and to take a more in-depth look at what leadership is and how to maximize one's abilities in the leadership area.

Advanced Leadership/Management

Grade Level: 10-12

Credit: 1 unit

Prerequisite: Naval Science 1
