 -Instructor's Recommendation
-NSI Approval
-3 Months in Unit
-Pass an oral exam on unit organization and military courtesies -Pass a practical test on basic military drill (unarmed) part 1 and assist in raising school flag at least twice
-Pass a written test on military time
-2.0 or higher GPA
-Training Officer's verification that the above is completed

C/SN

Cadet Seaman

 -Instructor's Recommendation
-NSI Approval
-6 Months in Unit
-Pass a written test on squad drill and the manual of arms
-Pass a practical test on squad drill an the manual of arms
-Pass a written test on NJROTC ranks and rates
-Pass a written test on the unit chain of command
-Participate in unit activities
-2.0 or higher GPA
-Training Officer's verification that the above is completed

C/PO3

Cadet Petty Officer

3rd Class

 -Instructor's Recommendation
-NSI Approval
-8 Months in Unit
-Pass a practical test as a squad leader
-Demonstrate the ability to lead a squad in drill
-Pass a test on the first 5 general orders of the sentry
-Earned or elegible for exemplary conduct
-Earned or elegible for exemplary personal appearance
-Pass a test on respect for and the display of the national flag
-Be a member in good standing of an NJROTC team
-2.0 or higher GPA
-Training Officer's verification that the above is completed

C/PO2

Cadet Petty Officer

2nd Class

 -Instructor's Recommendation
-NSI Approval
-Complete Naval Science 1 and one months as a PO3
-Pass a practical test for platoon leader
-Pass a written test on the national military chain of command
-Pass a test on the first 11 general orders of the sentry
-Earned or elegible for physical fitness
-Be a member in good standing of an NJROTC team
-2.0 or higher GPA
-Training Officer's verification that the above is completed

C/PO1

Cadet Petty Officer

First Class

 -Instructor's Recommendation
-NSI Approval
-Complete a minimum of 1 quarter of Naval Science 2
-Pass a test on personnel inspection procedures
-Conduct a platoon inspection in a satisfactory manner
-Pass a written test on all Navy ranks and rates
-Demonstrate proper platoon guideon procedures
-Be a member in good standing of an NJROTC team
-2.0 or higher GPA
-Training Officer's verification that the above is completed

C/CPO

Cadet Cheif Petty Officer

 -Instructor's Recommendation
-NSI Approval
-Must have 1 1/2 years in the unit and one month as a PO1
-Pass a practical test for the sword manual
-Must pass a written test on NJROTC unit organization
-Be a member in good standing of an NJROTC team
-2.0 or higher GPA
-Must have earned or be eligible for any four of the following:

Aptitude
Distinguished Cadet
Honor Cadet
Mini-Boot Camp
At-Sea Cruise
Unit Service
Community Service

-Training Officer's verification that the above is completed

C/ENS

Cadet Ensign

 -2.0 or higher GPA
-3.0 Overall in NJROTC program
-Completion of one of the following:

Leadership Academy
Cadet Officer Leadership Program
Boys/Girls State
Instructor's Approval
